A cash machine has been ripped out of a Co-op store by ram raiders in one of two early morning attacks in Devon, police have confirmed.
Three men using a Land Rover to batter down a Co-op shop front were thought to have been involved in one raid at Younghayes Road, Cranbrook, said the Devon and Cornwall force.
The cash machine was taken out of the shop at about 04:05 BST said police and the Land Rover was found abandoned nearby.
Police said there was another attempted raid at a Co-op store in Buddle Lane, Exeter, at about 03:40 BST involving two dark-coloured vehicles believed to be a 4×4 and a BMW, which left the scene.
A cordon has been put around the Cranbrook store while investigations take place.
It is thought the men in the Cranbrook raid left the scene in a different black car, possibly an Audi or a Mercedes, which may have had false number plates.
Southern Co-op told the BBC it hoped to reopen the Cranbrook store by Thursday morning.
